Posted on 1:13 AM in Hot Topics

The University of Florida is partnering with the University of
Louisville in a cooperative community service project this year in
New Orleans during the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The event will be an urban cleanup, which will plant new gardens, clean up trash and revitalize the community.

The University of Florida will work with The Sankofa Community
Development Corporation, which serves as a catalyst to revitalize New
Orleans' Lower and Upper Ninth Ward communities.

Sankofa CDC works to
increase access to fresh healthy produce and educate residents about
the importance of growing and consuming healthy foods. Check out the
web site www.sankofanola.org
to learn more about the organization.

Volunteers are needed on the morning of Jan. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m, but the event is limited to 50 volunteers.

If you are interested in participating, fill out
registration form on GatorConnect by Dec. 27  or follow the link to
