“You are not what you say you cannot
be!” This quote is the motto of the newly elected Senate President Pro-Tempore,
Naadira Renfroe. Born and raised in Macon, GA, Naadira is currently a third
year Anthropology major, minoring in African American Studies. After
graduation, she hopes to attend law school.
During her tenure in senate chambers, Naadira has strived to be
an active member of the campus community. She created an initiative called “Senate
1001.” Under this initiative, she revised the Guide to Statutes, wrote an
informative bill writing brochure, ‘Legislation Writing for Dummies,” and
launched the first ever Senate Shadow Day. She originated the idea of the
“State of the District Address” which later evolved into open town hall forums
which were led by various senators in an effort to open the lines of
communication between senators and their constituents.
Naadira’s efforts to improve student life sparked research which
would upgrade the Student Government Computer Lab and allow it to be utilized
by more students. The Student Government Computer Lab is the most utilized
service provided by SG. After surveying students and hearing their concerns,
she proposed a $300,000 project which would expand this service.
Naadira has served as Member-at-Large for the Replacement &
Agenda Committee, Chairwoman of Student Outreach and Resources Committee,
Vice-Chair of the Information and Communication Committee and Vice-Chair of the
Budget & Appropriations Committee. She is an active member of the Black
Student Union and the co-founder and treasurer of a new service organization,
SWAGG (Serving While Advocating for the Greater Good).
Naadira is only
optimistic about the future and she would like to challenge you to join her
in ensuring that the student senate is working for the students.
