R.L. Stine captivates audiences with his witty, creepy book
series Goosebumps. Goosebumps has sold over 300 million copies in the United
States alone and has become a publishing phenomenon in 32 languages around the
world. Stine was not only the best-selling author in America for three years in
a row (1993- 95), but also cited by The Guinness Book of World Records as the
best-selling series author in history.
His books undeniably defined horror for multiple generations
of young readers. The twentieth anniversary of Goosebumps was in 2012, which
means many of his original readers are now in their twenties and thirties.
Other popular children’s book series written by R.L. Stine include Fear Street,
Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and Rotten School. Stine’s previous novels
for adults include Superstitious, The Sitter, and Eye Candy. Stine’s anthology
TV horror series R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour and the original Goosebumps TV
series are both played on The Hub TV Network.
Now, Stine targets an adult audience with his terrifying new
horror novel Red Rain. Centered on a town in the grip of a sinister revolt, the
novel focuses on a travel writer, Lea Sutter, who finds herself on a small
island off the coast of South Carolina. A merciless, unanticipated hurricane
cuts a path of destruction through the island and Lea barely escapes with her
life. Stine uses his knack for creating terror to tap into adult fears.
